Washington Ecology - Updated Portal for Online Entries & Submissions

On February 27, 2014, Washington Ecology released WQWebSubmittals.  This new application will accept most water quality permit required submittals electronically into Ecology’s secure online service.   Submittals include many types of documents, examples are: Annual Report; Wasteload Assessment; Outfall Evaluation; etc.  If a submittal is required in your permit you can upload and sign it through this new application. If you are covered under a general permit you will be required to reapply for coverage using an electronic Notice of Intent which is or will also be located in the Portal.  Individual permit holders will at first not be able to upload permit renewal applications but this will be a feature in the future. For questions contact WQWebPortal@ecy.wa.gov.  Phone: 1-800-633-6193 (option 3).

USEPA 2013 Stormwater NPDES Permit Status Update

The current EPA Multi Sector General Permit (MSGP) expired in September 2013, and EPA doesn’t expect to have a new stormwater discharge permit authorized until well into 2014. For new facilities, a new Notice Of Intent (NOI) cannot be submitted until the new permit is authorized. Facilities that have industrial discharges still have to operate in accordance with the expired (2008) permit. A letter needs to be submitted to EPA stating that the facility will operate according to the expired 2008 MSGP. Please check out the EPA Stormwater website (http://cfpub.epa.gov/npdes/home.cfm?program_id=6) or contact Joe Fuhr with GEOS Environmental, jfuhr@geosenvironmental.com.
